Natural Interaction with Hand Gestures and Tactile Feedback for large, high-res Displays

چکیده
Human beings perceive their surroundings based on sensory information from diverse channels. However, for humancomputer interaction we mostly restrict the user on visual perception. To investigate the effect of additional tactile feedback on pointing and selection tasks we conducted a comparative evaluation study based on ISO 9241-9. The 20 participants performed horizontal and vertical one-directional tapping tasks with hand gesture input with and without tactile feedback on a large, high resolution display. In contrast to previous research we cannot confirm a benefit of tactile feedback on user performance. Our results show no significant effect in terms of effective index of performance and even a significant higher error rate for horizontal target alignment when using tactile feedback. Furthermore we found a significant difference in favor of the horizontal target alignment compared to the vertical one in terms of the effective index of performance.

Aims. Devices that allow using the functionality of natural hand movements are of the greatest interest. The purpose of this study is to select areas of research at the intersection of several fields of science – biomechanics and cybernetics to develop scientific and technical approaches to track the movements of the operator's fingers and form feedback tactile and force communication received ...
متن کاملDepth Camera-Based 3D Hand Gesture Controls with Immersive Tactile Feedback for Natural Mid-Air Gesture Interactions
Vision-based hand gesture interactions are natural and intuitive when interacting with computers, since we naturally exploit gestures to communicate with other people. However, it is agreed that users suffer from discomfort and fatigue when using gesture-controlled interfaces, due to the lack of physical feedback. To solve the problem, we propose a novel complete solution of a hand gesture cont...
متن کاملGestural Communication with Accelerometer-based Input Devices and Tactile Displays
In this work, we introduce a communication system for common military hand and arm gestures which does not require a visual connection between the transmitter and receivers. Specifically, we present a computermediated gesture recognition system that employs a wireless, accelerometer-based input device for collecting and classifying oneand two-hand and arm gestures. This system delivers message ...
متن کاملNatural User Interfaces
In this report I have discuss the works of 6 papers in the field of natural user interfaces. They all discuss different interaction techniques and how effective they are. Most of the current literatures, within 4-5 years discuss techniques for touch screens or movement based interaction, so I will be focusing on these topics. Fitts's Law is a huge part in all Human Computer Interaction. Fitts's...
